Romics 2019. Our meeting with science fiction and fantasy continues

The 2019 leads us between references and celebrations directly from the present to the near future, from the imaginary to the realistically possible: if we just think of the technology that we merely believed it was science fiction until few years ago but nowadays of common use, the virtual reality, artificial intelligence, social networks, virtual coin.

We are in the year that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, but also in the year in which it is set the cult movie Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo, that tell us about a post-apocalyptic Tokyo, ESP abilities and a fierce reflection about the contemporary society. And in the same 2019 is set Blade Runner by Ridley Scott, based on the novel by Philip K. Dick, where the reflection is shifted on universal questions, and the comparison between androids and humans becomes the research of the essence and the reasons for the existence.

The science fiction novel has become over time more and more critical of the contemporary reality, describing a gloomy idea of the future. Also the fantasy genre often leads us, through imagination and magic, to a reflection on the reality, moving us within rather dark landscapes, sometimes releasing some glimmer of light, the attempt to face the deepest fears or discover new friends or find the courage that you didn’t plan to have.

From April to the next october edition, Romics dedicates to science fiction and fantasy a special attention, with many events in order to involve the audience into these worlds, through comics, cinema and narrative.
