Charlotte Gastaut Golden Romics of the XXIV edition

An exceptional talent that straddles fashion and illustration: the French illustrator Charlotte Gastaut will receive the Golden Romics of the XXIV edition.

The dream, the magic, the poetry: the reach of Gastaut is incredibly evocative, the colours and the elegance of her works envelope her readers and lead one into a timeless world, in which the absolute rules are magic and beauty.

Gastaut was born in Marseilles in 1974. An illustrator for children, she began her artistic career working for women’s magazines. In 2001, she published her first book for Albin Michel: Les trois arbres de la vie written by Giorda. Her career began in 2014 with the meeting with Charlotte Moundilic: It was the beginning of a partnership that would lead her to publish Le grand voyage de mademoiselle Prudence, Poucette and Peau d’âne (Flammarion). She then collaborated with other publishers, including Albin Michel, Amaterra and Actes Sud, publishing about sixty titles, translated in twelve countries. The following were published by Gallucci in Italy: Il grande viaggio della piccola Angelica, the first book for which the artist handled both the text and the drawings, Lilì nel lettone, La Sirenetta, Cenerentola, Storie delle mille e una notte, Il flauto magico, L’uccello di fuoco and Pollicina. In October 2018, with a preview at Romics, will be released her new book, again for Gallucci Editore, Giselle, about a young peasant girl, a lover of dance who is madly in love with a prince, who turns out to be destined for another woman.

At the work of illustrator Gastaut alternates those in communication and advertising for important customers: Fendi, Cacharel, Diptyque, L’Occitane, Van Clef and Arpels, Godiva, Hermès. In 2016, Fendi chose her illustrations for their Haute Couture collection. Her poetic and evocative drawings became the protagonists of an exceptional catwalk. Since then, the world of fashion opened up to her: In 2017, she launched her own brand of animal themed silk scarves: “Charlotte Gastaut Collections”.

At Romics, the artist will be celebrated with a monographic exhibition that will present originals of her drawings, sketches and graphic projects created for fashion in a happy contamination between art and fashion.

Charlotte Gastaut’s presence is organised in collaboration with Gallucci Editore.
